Flights From The UK To Lesbos
Direct charter flights from the UK to Lesbos are available from London Gatwick and Manchester airports.
First Choice offer weekly flights to Lesbos from both London Gatwick (LGW) and Manchester (MAN), departing and returning on Thursdays from May until October.
XL also offer weekly flights from London Gatwick and Manchester, departing and returning on Thursdays from the 3rd of May till the 11th of October, 2007.
Flight times from both Gatwick and Manchester to Mytilene Airport (MJT) take approximately three and a half hours.
There are no direct scheduled flights from the UK to Lesbos at present, but one option is to fly to the island via Athens. Planes leave Athens International Airport (ATH) for Lesbos up to seven times a day and throughout the year. The flight from Athens to Mytiline takes just under an hour.
It is also possible to fly from Thessaloniki International airport (SKG) on the Greek mainland to Mytilini Airport on a scheduled flight.
Ferries To Lesbos
If you are already in the region and want to visit Lesbos you can do so by ferry from Pireaus (Athens). Ferries depart daily, usually in the evings and arrive in Mytilini Harbour the following morning. Journey times are from six to 12 hours depending on the type of ferry you sail on.
A ferry also sails from Lavrio (15km from Athens International Airport) to the port of Sigri in Lesbos with a journey time of just under nine hours.
You can also catch a ferry to Lesbos from Thessaloniki in Northern Greece
and Ayvalik in Turkey) as well as from neighbouring islands.
